About Rosie
Rosie Withey has always loved being with horses and has a lifetime of riding experience, including training, competing and teaching. She ran a successful business as a riding instructor at Hartley Wood Riding Centre in Clutton for 14 years.
Training the British Pentathletes in Show Jumping for two years developed Rosie’s interest in coaching as an approach to riding instruction, rather than teaching.
Rosie has always been attracted to ‘challenging’ horses and, after selling her business in 2003, she became a freelance riding coach and pursued alternative therapies and natural horsemanship techniques. With additional qualifications in Reiki, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching, she also attended workshops in TTeam and Connected Riding.
A fall from her horse in 2008 led her on a personal journey that started when she read Linda Kohanov’s books The Tao of Equus and Riding Between the Worlds. They immediately struck a chord with her, and she recognised that she had spent much of her life suppressing her emotions and in particular her fear around certain horses. In 2009 Rosie travelled to Tuscon Arizona to train in Equine Facilitated Learning. She is a 2009 graduate of EASE (Epona Advanced Study Experience) and in March 2010 Rosie became an Epona Approved Instructor of Equine Facilitated Learning (www.taoofequus.com).
Through her EPONA training, Rosie has learnt how to recognise her emotions and feelings as information that she can use to inform and guide her riding, her coaching and her life. As she continues to develop her authenticity, emotional agility and true confidence, her interactions with both horses and humans have improved.
She now integrates the Epona ApproachTM into her life and it is her continued desire to share all that she has learned with anyone who wants to find their authentic self, to engage more fully with their emotions, to live in the moment and develop deeper self-awareness, personal growth and fulfilment.
Rosie works sensitively and intuitively, respecting and understanding each client’s individual needs. Her ability to be with you wherever you are right now enables her to ‘hold the space’ in a way that allows you to make your own inner connections and discoveries.
Rosie practises the Epona ApproachTM on a daily basis with her herd, Jack and Bramble, which helps her to continually develop and hone her skills in translating horse intuition to humans.
"You may be able to fool other humans and even yourself at times but you can count on the average horse to let you know exactly where you stand”
Linda Kohonov
